What are you up to these days?
Take a minute to think about that…
Are you setting goals for yourself?
You need to set goals for yourself.
You need to set goals for your training.
You need to set goals for your finances.
You need to set goals for your relationships.
You need to set goals for adventure and enjoyment.
You need to set goals for your vocation.
This doesn’t have to be a boring task.
This can be the most fun that you have all day!
Sit down for an hour or so and write down what you want your life to be like.
What do you want your relationships to be like?
Do you want to be in a relationship?
Do you want to be a lone wolf?
What do you want to achieve in your training?
Do you want a shredded 6-Pack? Or an ripped 8-Pack? OR do you want to be the first man to achieve the coveted 12-Pack?!?!?!?!?!
Do you want to get really strong? (in that case scrap the 12-Pack plan)
How strong?
How are you going to measure that?
Do you want to make lots of money?
How much?
What do you want to do with it?
Do you want to get a dog?
Do you want to help people?
Do you want to help people with your dog by providing drug sniffing services?
Do you want the people you helped with your drug sniffing dog to also get a drug sniffing dog and then help other people with their drug sniffing dogs?
Do you want to one day put on a one man show in which you play 17 different characters all representing a unique part of your personality which lasts 7 days and 7 nights and involves untrained mountain lions, 6 different rap battles, unlimited cotton candy, and the creation of the largest ice sculpture known to man?
No?
Well…
my point is that you should have fun with it.
Goal setting is not like creating a budget. (necessary but boring)
Goal setting is about envisioning the life that aligns most closely with the things that you value and then working towards that life each and every day.
And what do you value?
If you value your family are you going to spend 45 minutes a week with them?
If you value training are you going to train once a month?
If you value eating healthy foods and filling your body with vibrant energy are you going to crush 4 Egg McMuffins every morning?
You need to sit down and figure these things out.
You may find that you are spending a large amount of your time on things that you do not value.
You may find that you are putting a lot of energy into tasks and people who do not serve you.
So setting goals is not all about being organized and safe.
It’s about envisioning what you want for yourself and then heading out in that direction.
So have fun with it.
